On April 16, 2024, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department submitted documents to prosecutors concerning Dewi Sukarno, an 85-year-old Japanese television personality widely known as “Madame Dewi.” She is suspected of committing an assault earlier this year.

According to investigative sources, the incident occurred in mid-February at a restaurant in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward. Dewi Sukarno allegedly became embroiled in a heated verbal dispute with a female employee from her private office. The disagreement reportedly stemmed from differing opinions regarding political or entertainment-related activities.

During the altercation, Dewi is accused of throwing champagne glasses and other items at the woman. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Dewi Sukarno has denied the allegations, stating, “I did not throw anything.” She remains unarrested, with police determining there was no risk of flight or destruction of evidence.

The case has now been referred to prosecutors, who will determine whether to formally charge her. This development has reignited public interest in previous controversies involving Dewi, including past financial and legal disputes.

As the investigation progresses, attention remains focused on how prosecutors will handle the matter and whether it will affect Dewi Sukarno’s long-standing public image
